Many of the Christian Bale fans know him from the Batman series(no offence to anybody if they had started liking him way before that), but for me, this movie became a benchmark for his acting. This was the first Christian Bale movie I watched and fell in love instantly.
The movie portrays Bale to be a special agent in a fascist future where it is illegal for humans to feel. Yes, illegal to feel! Anybody caught feeling even the slightest of emotions were to be exterminated as most of the human population had been wiped out due to wars. Passion and emotions were blamed to be the main reason and hence, the ban on anything that gave the slightest hint of emotions. Bale plays as the protagonist as the very special agent who had the ability to sense where things were located which could arouse any sort of emotions. But during his job, he goes rogue and starts to feel things. It all goes against the governments plans when they find out that their best agent is helping an underground rebellious group who is thinking of throwing them over and restore parity.
Directed and written by Kurt Wimmer, this movie is a beautiful piece of fiction worth watching. Filled with action packed stunts, this movie would show you the very best of what Christian Bale can do in action movies other than the Batman series. The movie gives you a raw kind of feeling that its kind of low budgeted but at the end, it all goes well with the story of the movie and helps the director in showing what he had in mind exactly.
